GHX supports Mohawk Shared Services' supply chain automation in less than 60 days
TORONTO and BURLINGTON, Ontario, July 31, 2012 /CNW/ - Mohawk Shared Services, Inc. (MSSI) is automating and streamlining supply chain operations through GHX to help maximize resources and reduce the cost of healthcare delivery. Working with GHX, MSSI was able to transmit its first electronic purchase order (PO) through the GHX electronic trading exchange less than 60 days from the start of its supply chain transformation project. MSSI is the seventh shared services organization (SSO) in Ontario to join the GHX Exchange.
"Working with GHX, we've automated our procure-to-pay warehouse business transaction process in a very short period of time," said Sue Smith, general manager of Supply Chain Services for MSSI. "Our goal for this supply chain automation initiative is to improve accuracy and realize efficient turnaround of suppliers' orders and invoices which in turn brings the opportunity for early payment discount rebates back to our membership."
In addition to basic GHX Exchange connectivity, MSSI is leveraging GHX solutions to quickly and efficiently transition from manual to electronic POs with their suppliers. The GHX Trading Partner Acceleration (TPA) program is enabling MSSI to quickly grow its electronic trading partner base by identifying target suppliers on the GHX Exchange, manage the onboarding and registration processes and onboard a large number of suppliers in a short period of time.
MSSI is also using GHX MetaTrade to transact electronically with suppliers who are not yet connected to the GHX Exchange. With GHX MetaTrade, GHX converts MSSI's electronic POs into fax or e-mail format for those suppliers who cannot accept EDI transactions. Suppliers can then use an Internet link within the orders to respond with electronic purchase order acknowledgments (POAs). This solution enables MSSI to increase its volume of e-commerce transactions while reducing the number of time-consuming and labour-intensive manual transactions. To further streamline the ordering process, MSSI staff utilize the GHX My Exchange web portal to view and manage orders placed with both GHX-connected and non-connected suppliers.
"By eliminating manual and redundant processes from its supply chain, Mohawk Shared Services is delivering upon its commitment to provide high-quality, cost-effective services to its member hospitals," said Nils Clausen, general manager, GHX Canada. "We at GHX support the Shared Services Organization (SSO) mission and are proud to serve as a strategic supply chain partner to MSSI and the other six of nine SSOs in Ontario. Working together, we can build a sustainable model for healthcare delivery."
Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX), a healthcare technology and services company, helps reduce the cost of doing business in healthcare by enabling better supply chain management. GHX makes it easier for hospitals, other healthcare providers and the suppliers that do business with them to drive cost and inefficiency out of their processes. Working with GHX, the healthcare organizations that make up the GHX Global Network are on track to save $5 billion by 2014--savings that can be invested in such things as hiring more nurses, providing care to uninsured children or developing new medical products. GHX is owned by organizations on both the buy and sell side of the healthcare supply chain, including some of the largest companies in the world.
