EDMONTON, May 22, 2015 /CNW/ - AMVIC has received calls from concerned consumers who feel they have received misleading advertisements arriving in Edmonton area mailboxes on May 22, 2015. The advertisements appear to be cheques or awards endorsed by AMVIC.
Please be aware AMVIC has not created, authorized or sent these ads. AMVIC would not send or endorse any type of coupon, discount or award.
As Alberta's automotive regulator, AMVIC enforces the consumer protection laws that all automotive businesses must comply with. The Fair Trading Act and associated regulations set out the advertising rules for automotive businesses.
Alberta automotive advertisers are legally required to include the AMVIC logo or indicate the business is AMVIC-licensed on all print, online and television advertisements. The appearance of the AMVIC logo is not an endorsement of a business, rather it is intended to let consumers know that the business is licensed by AMVIC.
If you have questions regarding this advertisement or any concerns please go to amvic.org and file a complaint.
You can search AMVIC's database to find out if the person or business you are dealing with is licensed. If you cannot find who you are dealing with, you can call AMVIC to be certain.
