The Honourable Julian Fantino reaffirms Government's commitment to Veterans and their families at annual meeting
OTTAWA, Oct. 25, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today paid tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (RCAFA) at its annual meeting in Ottawa. The Minister thanked the Association for its outstanding contributions to Veterans, and reaffirmed the Government of Canada's commitment to strengthen support for Veterans and their families by cutting red tape and introducing new supports for those Veterans who are the most seriously injured, including support for their families.
The Minister also paid tribute to Canadian Armed Forces members, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo, who were recently the targets of fatal terror attacks in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario.
- Since 2006, the Government of Canada has invested more than $4.7 billion in new funding to improve benefits and services for Veterans and their families.
- The Royal Canadian Air Force Association is a non-profit community service organization of Veterans who have served in Canada's air forces. The Association is active in commemorating the achievements of those who have served, advocating for Veterans' rights, and promoting aviation heritage and youth projects-especially those supporting the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
"We have a duty to honour Canadian Veterans and their families, and ensure they have access to the supports and services they need and rightfully deserve. I applaud the Royal Canadian Air Force Association for its tireless efforts on behalf of air force Veterans, and I am proud that our Government shares their commitment to the men and women who have served in uniform."
The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs
"The Association partners with the Royal Canadian Legion to help identify the most pressing issues of concern to Canada's Veterans. This process helps the Minister of Veterans Affairs and his most capable staff to deliver the most effective programs, products and services to Canada's Veterans. The members of the Air Force Association of Canada extend our sincerest gratitude to Mr. Julian Fantino for his extraordinary leadership and vision, and for his compassion for Canada and its Veterans."
