Mike's Hard Pink Lemonade brings National Young Women Living with Breast
Cancer conference a step closer to reality

TORONTO, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - Today Mike's Hard Lemonade presented the Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) with a $135,000 cheque at the LCBO Queens Quay store in Toronto. Mike's Hard Lemonade established a partnership with the CBCN in April 2009 to help raise funds for a much needed National Young Women Living with Breast Cancer conference. The conference is due to take place next year, assuming adequate funds have been raised.

"Breast cancer is something that affects many Canadians directly and indirectly," said Chris Pfeifer, Director of Marketing, Mark Anthony Brands. "As a Canadian Mike wanted to give back to the community in a way which makes a real difference to Canadians. Our partnership with the Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) and the support of the LCBO has made this possible."

The Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) is a survivor-directed, national network of 225 partner and member groups providing the link between young women concerned and affected by breast cancer. The first National Young Women Living with Breast Cancer conference took place in 2007, giving 325 young women the chance to share their cancer journey, hear medical experts, and confer on resources. This year the CBCN is working hard to make this conference possible again in 2010.

Earlier this year, Mike's Hard Lemonade designed a limited edition Pink Lemonade cooler to support women affected by breast cancer in Canada. The company pledged to donate 25 percent of all sales profits to CBCN and have raised more than $135,000 in the first 7 months of the 12 month campaign. The goal is to reach $150,000 by the end of the 12 months. The amount raised is the single largest donation by a corporate sponsor to CBCN.

This donation was made possible through the help and support of the LCBO and other retailers across the country. "LCBO customers and staff always give generously to worthy causes and this fundraising effort provided another opportunity to help make this important conference a reality."
