TORONTO, April 13, 2015 /CNW/ - A Hearing Panel of the Central Regional Council of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada ("MFDA") has issued its Reasons for Decision in connection with a settlement hearing held in Toronto, Ontario on March 26, 2015 in the matter of Iftikhar Mahmood (the "Respondent"). The Reasons for Decision relate to the Hearing Panel's acceptance of the settlement agreement (the "Settlement Agreement") entered into between the Respondent and Staff of the MFDA. In its Reasons for Decision dated April 9, 2015, the Hearing Panel confirmed the sanctions imposed on the Respondent:
- shall pay a fine in the amount of $5,000;

- shall in the future comply with sections 13.7 and 13.8 of National Instrument 31-103.
In the Settlement Agreement, the Respondent admitted that between between June 2010 and October 2010, he referred one (1) client to a company that sold mortgage investment products and received $750 in referral fees for doing so, thereby participating in a referral arrangement to which the Member was not a party and which did not otherwise comply with sections 13.7 and 13.8 of National Instrument 31-103.
