MONTREAL, July 9, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Meuble2Go is making an online shift with the launch of www.meuble2go.com, one of Quebec's largest online furniture portals featuring more than 2,000 products. About 40% of its inventory is made up of furniture made right here in Quebec, and – as a distinctive element – merchandise is always delivered for free in Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada. To inspire its customers, Meuble2Go has also opened a 2,000-square-foot concept boutique in the heart of the Mile End district of Montreal, complete with product samples, or items, a sleep laboratory and even a coffee bar.
A new must-see destination for deco enthusiasts
The meuble2go.com site offers a wide variety of furniture, mattresses and accessories and a vast repertoire of different styles. The site features plenty of photos in order to provide a user-friendly online shopping experience. A chat line is always available to provide the human touch and answer customers' questions. Under the tag line "Fièrement d'ici," ("proudly local") the site focuses especially on furniture made in Quebec. As well, by minimizing the burdensome administrative processes involved in inventory management, meuble2go.com is able to provide free shipping – the only merchant in Quebec to do so!
"The furniture market is very traditional, even old-school, with salespeople on commission," says young entrepreneur Vincent Gagnon, who manages meuble2go.com. "Meuble2go.com aims to be a refreshing alternative. We want to put the power back in the customer's hands. Instead of a professional buyer deciding what merchandise will be offered in-store, the consumer decides, by having access to the broadest possible range of products."
As for the concept boutique, its offers deco accessories with constantly renewed inventory. The sleep lab, called DormoLAB, helps each customer pick the perfect mattress with a quick test that assesses age, weight, height, body aches and pressure points. Meuble2go.com offers mid-range furniture at affordable prices. Starting this fall, a workshop section will feature high-end products made by local artisans. This platform, showcasing the latest trends, will serve as a display centre to highlight the work of creators from right here.
A new business model to capitalize on the growth of e-commerce
Retail expert entrepreneur Christian Gagnon, who among other things launched the first Meuble2Go specialized in destocking high-end furniture last fall, chose to hand over the reins and sell the company's assets to his 24-year-old son, Vincent. Vincent wanted to capitalize on the growing popularity of online shopping and target a new generation of consumers by totally revisiting the Meuble2Go business model. This is how the meuble2go.com site was born, along with the concept boutique that has hung out its shingle in a bustling area two doors down from Frank & Oak clothing store.
"Although there are three million online shoppers a year and $6 billion spent on e-commerce in Quebec, unfortunately 60% of purchases are made from websites outside Quebec,"1 adds Vincent Gagnon. "With meuble2go.com, I wanted to approach the furniture market from a new angle and make the most of online shopping opportunities, making the customer the focus of purchasing decisions and showcasing local products."
