Merjent Opens First Canadian Office in Vancouver Français
Merjent extends industry-leading Integrated Environmental and Social Consulting Services to the Canadian Oil & Gas and Mining sectors
MINNEAPOLIS, March 10, 2015 /CNW/ -- Merjent, Inc., a professional environmental and social consultancy advising the world's leading mining and energy companies, is proud to announce the opening of operations in Vancouver, British Columbia.
After more than a decade of serving clients from its Minneapolis, Minnesota headquarters, Merjent has incorporated in Canada to support existing clients and to answer increasing demand for Merjent's environmental and social consulting services.
Merjent President Tom Janssen said the time was right for establishing a Canadian presence. "Merjent's expansion into Canada is a natural progression. We have long-standing relationships with Canadian companies, built on years of successful collaboration on their projects in the United States. By extending our geographic reach with a Canadian team, our clients will benefit from the integrated environmental and social expertise provided by our advisors located throughout North America."
The Vancouver office will offer the same environmental consulting services that Merjent has provided to its U.S. clients since 2004, including environmental permitting, third-party analysis, planning and feasibility, construction compliance, and operational compliance.
Merjent is also a premier provider of corporate responsibility and social performance (CRSP) services with a fast-growing team boasting three of North America's most respected CRSP professionals in the mining and energy sectors – Laureen Whyte, Jo Render, and Caroline Rossignol. The CRSP team has extensive experience working with U.S. and Canadian companies of all sizes, both as in-house staff and as external consultants, to advance best practices in First Nations consultation, stakeholder engagement, social impact, and risk assessment and management.
The Vancouver office will be the foundation for Merjent's growth and service development in Canada. "Merjent is looking to attract the best and brightest environmental professionals in Canada to enhance our team and grow our Canadian office," said Anna Dosen, Merjent's Senior Human Resources Manager. "This is a unique opportunity to introduce Merjent's award-winning culture and people-centric policies to the Canadian environmental consulting market."
"Our Canadian team will combine the high standards of service that Merjent is known for with in-country experience and expertise to meet the unique needs of Canadian companies and projects," said Mr. Janssen. "With this expansion into Canada and our in-depth capacity in environmental and social performance services, we offer a truly integrated approach to supporting our clients on both sides of the border. We are very excited and confident about our future as a North American company."
