TORONTO, Sept. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced today that a record-breaking total of 3,728 units were delivered throughout the month of August. These outstanding sales results represented a month-over-month increase of 20.0% or 621 additional units, resulting in Mercedes-Benz Canada's best August ever. Year-to-date total sales now stand at 29,522 units, up 15.6%.
A total of 3,283 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed this month. This was ahead of last August's results by 30.5% and helped push overall sales to 25,824 vehicles this year. A total of 1,662 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars were delivered for the month, up 10.8%. This result was bolstered by another excellent month for the CLA, C-Class and S-Class models.
On the luxury light trucks side, sales were up by an exceptional 59.5% for the month with a total of 1,621 units sold. The excellent performance was fueled by strong results across the entire SUV line-up and brisk demand for the outgoing ML and GLK Classes as well as the incoming GLE SUV and GLE Coupe.
Mercedes-Benz Vans had a solid month with a total of 379 units delivered in August. This was a 21.9% increase for the month, and propelled year-to-date growth for the division to 15.7% or 433 more units, with 3,185 vans retailed.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 59.1%, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 92.8% of overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 66 vehicles sold in August.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division reported August sales of 1,310 units for an increase of 6.1% when compared to last year. These results represent a year-to-date increase of 9.4% with a total of 10,378 units sold this year. Certified Pre-Owned sales grew by 5.6% for the month and by 14.5% for the year and account for 82.2% of the total pre-owned volume.
