TORONTO, Feb. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that the company has delivered a grand total of 2,278 Mercedes-Benz and smart units throughout the month. This represents the best January on record for the group, and an overall sales increase of 28% or 499 units compared to January 2013.
A total of 1,993 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed in January which translates into a 30% gain for the month.
Passenger car sales totaled 1,302 units in January. This is up by 68.7% or 530 units, which was fueled by notable CLA-Class, C-Class, E-Class and S-Class sales. On the luxury light trucks side, strong demand was recorded across the entire highly coveted vehicle range with 691 units sold.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 74% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 77.4% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in January (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 43 vehicles sold in January, which equates to a 26.5% increase.
A total of 242 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters were delivered throughout the month, which is ahead 14.2% compared to January 2013.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division also recorded an excellent start to the year with 799 vehicles delivered for the month. This is an increase of 76 units or 10.5% compared to the same time period last year.
