TORONTO, Nov. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that the company retailed 3,747 Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and smart units throughout October, an increase of 11% when compared to last year. This outstanding performance represented the best October ever for the group bringing overall year-to-date growth to 8% or 2,467 units, with a grand total of 33,220 vehicles delivered so far in 2014.
Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks sales accounted for 3,231 units in October showing a gain of 12.1% with 27,767 vehicles delivered year-to-date. With a total of 1,822 passenger cars and 1,409 luxury light trucks delivered, October sales were up 13.9% and 9.9% respectively for the month.
Strong CLA, S-Class, GL-Class and G-Class model sales contributed to October's success. In addition, the all-new GLA and C-Class posted excellent numbers for their second month of sale in the Canadian market, whereas SLK, E-Class cabriolet and SL-Class deliveries remained strong through October.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 63.5% for the month, while all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 85.1% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in October (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 217 vehicles sold in October, which equates to an overall increase of 1.8% year-to-date, bringing total sales to 1,942 units.
Mercedes-Benz Vans posted gains in October with 299 units sold, up 14.6% when compared to last year. This helped boost overall growth for the division to 21.4% or 618 Sprinter vans.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned reported a second consecutive record-breaking month with a total of 1,289 units retailed in October which represented an increase of 8% or 95 units. A grand total of 12,179 Pre-Owned units have been sold by dealerships across the country which corresponds to a year-to-date increase of 6.6% or 754 units.
"In October, we not only announced that we were expanding our operations in the Greater Toronto Area with the appointment of a new dealer in Brampton but we also celebrated the grand opening of Mercedes-Benz Boundary, a second new flagship facility in Vancouver", said Tim A. We are determined to sustain this excellent momentum over the course of the next two months".
