Media notification - Hundreds of ill-housed tenants and homeless invite themselves at Justin Trudeau's Ottawa residence

OTTAWA, Oct. 11, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - By gathering in front of Justin Trudeau's temporary residence, in Ottawa, and trying to catch a selfie with Canada's Primer Minister, hundreds of members from the Front d'action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) are demanding a National Housing Strategy based on human rights that includes massive investments in social housing.

This gathering will take place four days before the beginning of the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, Habitat III, to which Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, will participate for the government of Canada. It will also mark the last week of the federal consultations on the future National Housing Strategy.

The gathering will be followed by a march to the Embassy of Japan in Canada, in solidarity with families that were evacuated from Fukushima because of the nuclear accident of March 11^th 2011 and that now face forced reintegration of their homes by the Japanese government, despite serious health risks.
