CALGARY, Nov. 17, 2014 /CNW/ - For Financial Literacy Month in November, the Alberta Accountants Unification Agency has partnered with Father Lacombe High School to present a workshop designed to increase students' financial know-how and confidence with money management.
A financial literacy expert and designated member of the Alberta accounting profession will be presenting on money management topics and guiding students on how to use TheMoneyProject.ca, a money management web portal for young Albertans that was launched in November 2012. Our goal is to equip students with the skills to make smart money decisions, now and into the future.
The Money Project is a one-stop-shop for online money management resources. It is a web portal that features financial literacy content for Alberta's young people (and other interested visitors). It also acts as a hub that will connect visitors to more online money management resources and tools.
Note to Editor:
You are invited to send a photographer/reporter/camera crew to The Money Project presentation and student event. Media are requested to check in with the main office at Father Lacombe High School.

TheMoneyProject.ca website is a special project of the Chartered Accountants Education Foundation of Alberta – the Alberta CA profession's non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting business and accounting education in the province. Funding for this project was provided by the generous donations of Alberta Chartered Accountants and other charitable supporters through the Paying it Forward fundraising campaign. It has also been supported by a grant from the Government of Alberta Community Spirit program. In 2012, the program was recognized by the Government of Alberta with an Alberta Consumer Champion Award, honouring organizations that contribute to a fair and balanced marketplace by promoting consumer protection and education.
In Alberta, the Certified General Accountants, the Certified Management Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants are working toward unification under the new Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Find out more at www.themoneyproject.ca and www.albertaaccountants.org.
