Media alert - Team Canada lands in Munich for the first stop of the Red Bull
Crashed Ice World Championship

TORONTO, Jan. 15 /CNW/ - The capital city of Bavaria is preparing for the first ever Red Bull Crashed Ice on German soil on January 16, 2010. One hundred athletes from around the world will battle their way to the bottom in Munich's Olympiapark - built for the 1972 Summer Olympics. A combination of downhill skating, hockey and boardercross, the course at Red Bull Crashed Ice Munich features a stunning 386-metre ice track with banked turns, challenging curves, fearsome obstacles and drops all the way down to the park's Olympic Lake. On their way down the serpentine ice track the main challenge for the athletes will be the banked curve, where they will have to try to keep their speed up on the open stretch of ice with a pylon at the end that can be circled from either side.

Battling for the glory and representing Canada are the country's top three performers: Gabriel Andre (Edmonton, AB), 2006 champion, Quebec City; Kevin Olson (Lethbridge, AB), 2007 champion, Quebec City and Helsinki; and top performer Christian Papillon (Quebec City, QC).
