FIFA may have claimed downtown, but the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's is still taking over Toronto -- one meaningful step at a time.
TORONTO, May 29, 2026 /CNW/ - The Alzheimer Society of Toronto is inviting Torontonians to lace up and join the 2026 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's -- the largest fundraiser for dementia care in Canada -- on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at a new Toronto location as the city prepares for the excitement of FIFA festivities downtown.
Hundreds of walkers, families, care partners, and community supporters will gather to raise critical funds and awareness for the more than 51,000 people currently living with dementia in Toronto.
Funds raised through the Walk allow the Alzheimer Society of Toronto to provide free, life-changing programs and services to more than 15,000 individuals annually, including counselling, care navigation, support groups, Active Living Programs, and dementia education for families and healthcare professionals.
With dementia rates expected to nearly triple across Canada by 2050, the need for compassionate community support has never been greater.
"We may have had to change our location this year, but our mission hasn't changed," says Dave Spedding. "Every day, families turn to us feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and exhausted. The Walk is about showing them they are not alone -- and ensuring they continue to have access to free programs, support, and moments of joy."
Hosted by Erica Ehm, the event features opening ceremonies, family-friendly activities, and accessible 1 KM and 3 KM walk routes.
