OTTAWA, Oct. 21 /CNW Telbec/ - The KYOTOplus climate coalition will hold a news conference and photo-op on Parliament Hill tomorrow to highlight the inaction of the Harper government on climate change.
A feature of the news conference will be the delivery to the Prime Minister's office of petitions from tens of thousands of Canadians demanding climate action.
At recent climate change negotiations in Bangkok, Thailand, Canada blocked progress on negotiations, prompting a walk-out by developing nations.
Parliament is currently debating the Climate Change Accountability Act (Bill C-311), which has been called the "KYOTOplus Bill," because it supports the KYOTOplus target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 25 per cent from 1990 levels by 2020.
Who: KYOTOplus coalition. Speakers from: the Climate Action Network,
Oxfam, Canadian Labour Congress, KAIROS-Canadian Ecumenical
Justice Initiatives, and opposition environment critics.
