Media Advisory: Interview and Photo Opportunities - Angels in the Night Spread their Wings Once Again in Communities Across Canada
Volunteers to distribute over 10,000 items of clothing and supplies to homeless shelters
TORONTO, Dec. 10, 2013 /CNW/ - As winter weather blows into communities across Canada, volunteers will be helping keep those in need feeling a little warmer. Tonight, hundreds of volunteers from Invis-Mortgage Intelligence, one of Canada's leading mortgage brokerage firms, will visit shelters in ten Canadian cities to distribute over 10,000 items of new winter clothing and supplies to those in need as part of the community program, Angels in the Night Homeless Shelter Project.
Angels in the Night is an annual event resulting from a year's worth of community fundraising efforts by Invis-Mortgage Intelligence volunteers in support of homeless shelters in communities across Canada. Since 2002, Angels in the Night volunteers have raised over $2 million. Each year shelters identify items in demand and volunteers then purchase new items and personally deliver them on one night.
This year Invis-Mortgage Intelligence plans to distribute over 10,000 items to various shelters across Canada, including: 2,200 toothbrushes and tooth pastes, 600 pairs of socks, 400 pairs of gloves, 1,000 pairs of underwear, 400 pairs of gloves, 100 blankets, 200 towels and 2,500 bars of soap. The list also includes other most wanted items such as: work gloves, children's boots, and winter jackets.
