MEDIA ADVISORY - Canada Post to unveil second and final set in its Places of Pride stamps series Français
Latest issue honours four ground-breaking spaces and events that shaped 2SLGBTQIA+ history
TORONTO, June 1, 2026 /CNW/ - Canada Post will be unveiling its second and final set in its Places of Pride stamp series.
The following spaces and events have shaped 2SLGBTQIA+ history in Canada and will be honoured with their own stamp:
- Little Sister's Book & Art Emporium, the iconic Vancouver bookshop that fought a landmark case to protect 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
- Metamorphosis, a festival in Saskatoon considered to be the first celebration of queer culture in Western Canada.
- The 519, a pivotal community hub in the heart of Toronto's historic queer village and the first City of Toronto community centre run by and for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
- The Turret in Halifax, an important gathering place for social, political and cultural life from 1976 to 1982.
The Places of Pride stamp series capture turning points in the history of the 2SLGBTQIA+ rights movement in Canada
The stamp unveiling will take place in partnership with The 519, who is celebrating 50 years of being a vital community space for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It is a private event, by invite only. Interviews will be available on-site.
