MEDIA ADVISORY - Workers at Fred Victor issue strike alert

TORONTO, Jan. 19, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, workers at Fred Victor will host a lunchtime picket outside their workplace as they ramp up their fight for a fair first contract.

"There is a serious problem of precarious work at Fred Victor," said OPSEU Local 509 bargaining team member, Margaret Robinson. "We are determined to negotiate a fair contract that includes fair wages and benefits for all staff."

The 278-member local has been in negotiations with the employer since April, 2016.

Workers at Fred Victor provide services to individuals who experience poverty, homelessness, and mental health challenges in Toronto.
