Media Advisory - Toronto Blue Jays and Jays Care flock together to build
Habitat Homes
Toronto Blue Jays and Jays Care look to hit a Home Run in helping families escape poverty housing
TORONTO, July 26 /CNW/ -
What: The Toronto Blue Jays staff and team will gather on July 27th at
Habitat for Humanity Toronto's William's Way build site (1500
Weston Road) to help build 20 solar-paneled safe, decent and
affordable homes. Funded by Jays Care Foundation, the Toronto Blue
Jays and Jays Care staff will be joined, on-site, by some of the
players' wives, known as Lady Jays, to help raise awareness for
Habitat for Humanity Toronto. "We're thrilled to be working
alongside Habitat Toronto homeowners to help build their new
homes. The Toronto Blue Jays care about providing safe places for
kids to play, learn and grow - what a better place to do that than
a home of your own," says Danielle Silverstein, Executive
Director, Jays Care Foundation. By participating in this build day
the Toronto Blue Jays and Jays Care staff will give another family
like the Burnett family a hand up, not a hand out. "The Blue Jays
always root for the home team," says Habitat for Humanity
Toronto's CEO Neil Hetherington. "Today, they are putting that
support into physical and philanthropic action by teaming up to
build Habitat Toronto homes."
