TORONTO, Dec. 2, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto artist Viktor Mitic will be on hand to discuss his unique creative process that involves using firearms and hundreds of rounds fired in to each painting. To Mitic, the bullet holes and gun powder burns are metaphors for a society in crisis within today's gun culture.
His latest works include a bullet-riddled portrait of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, and "Black and White Together, Forever", a portrait of the Afro-American teenager Trayvor Martin and his killer George Zimmerman.
Mitic's portrait work also includes: Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Brad Pitt, John Lennon, Mahatma Gandhi, John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe.
Corrado De Luca is available to discuss his reasons for hosting Mitic's solo show, POINT BLANK - Art or War, at the De Luca Fine Art | Gallery from December 5 to 28.
Date: | Thursday, December 5 |
Time: | 3 to 4 p.m. |
