Media Advisory - Special Thanksgiving for Wish Children at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
PICKERING, ON, Oct. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Children coping with a life threatening illness have a unique opportunity to experience the thrill of riding in exotic cars around a world famous track this Thanksgiving weekend.
In association with The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Pfaff Automotive Partners, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Doncaster Foundation will be hosting this private event in support of Children's Wish and the children and families the organization serves.
The event, Children's Wish Ride-Along, is in its 22nd year and is a widely anticipated attraction for seriously ill Ontario children diagnosed with a life threatening illness and their families. Members of the motorsports community come together to provide a rare opportunity for the wish children to experience the joy and thrill of riding around the track, recognized internationally as the Canadian home of motorsports.
Event organizers Jeff Pabst and Dave Lacey, have organized the fundraiser since the inaugural event and have seen first-hand the impact of the day on the children and their families.
"We are elated to be able to provide this unique experience to our wonderful children. The day represents an opportunity for the children to forget their pain and illness and focus on something fun and exciting with their families. Drivers donate their time and use of their vehicles just to see the smile on the children's faces," Lacey said.
"The Children's Wish Ride-Along is a very special day for all of us here at Children's Wish. We have the privilege of working with incredible children and their families and welcome this opportunity to provide them with a thrilling adventure with some generous supporters from our community. It's a special Thanksgiving for Children's Wish this year!" said Sandra Harris, Director, Ontario Chapter of Children's Wish.

The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada
Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of 3 - 17 are diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to over 21,000 children and their families.
This year, the Foundation expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes and is proud to have never refused a wish to an eligible child, and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family. The Foundation is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory.
