Mint boutique to host local coin exchange
What: The newest coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's Vancouver 2010
collection is here! Canadians can now collect the 25-cent
circulation coin celebrating Men's Hockey Gold at Salt Lake City
in 2002, which was voted by fans as the top Canadian Olympic
Winter Games Moment of all time.
The thrill of Canada's victory at the Winter Olympic Games in
Salt Lake City is depicted on the coin by a hockey player with
arms raised in victory against the backdrop of a maple leaf. The
Mint is inviting the general public to visit its Lagimodière
Boulevard boutique for a coin exchange, where some lucky visitors
could find one of only three million coloured versions of the
coin randomly distributed among the 22 million coins entering
circulation. This marks the thirteenth circulation coin to be
issued in celebration of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and
Paralympic Winter Games.
Saving this special coin is a unique way to build momentum for
the Games and to generate luck for our athletes who will compete
in this momentous event.
