Media Advisory - Prisoner's Justice Day focus on children of incarcerated parents
TORONTO, July 31, 2013 /CNW/ - This year, the 38th annual Prisoner`s Justice Day will focus on issues faced by families with loved ones who are in Canadian prisons. The event will be hosted by Jessica Reid, co-founder of F.E.A.T. for Children of Incarcerated Parents.
Every year over 150,000 Canadian adults are remanded into custody. Many of these individuals are parents. Approximately 180,000 children across Canada suffer from the traumatic consequences of parental incarceration. In the Greater Toronto Area alone, over 10,000 children are affected.
