Manning to Kick-off municipal training initiative with January 31st speech
VANCOUVER, Jan. 28, 2014 /CNW/ - Media are invited to join Preston Manning, CEO of the Manning Centre for Building Democracy as he delivers a speech entitled "So you want to be an elected official" in the Vancouver area.
In the speech, Manning will outline his plan to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of political practitioners, especially those who subscribe to values and principles that will advance our country. Manning will also speak to the need to expand training of public officials and prospective public officials at the municipal level. Manning will cite the fact that there are 308 MPS, a few hundred MLA's and over 28,000 municipal elected officials in Canada. It's time Canadians started paying more attention to politics at the municipal level.
