Media Advisory - Photo Opportunities - KAIROS Cross-Canada G20 Climate
Justice Tour Comes to Yellowknife
YELLOWKNIFE, NT, June 11 /CNW/ -
WHO: KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives in conjunction
with the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition and the Council of
Canadians presents KAIROS Southern and Indigenous partners
speaking out about the connection between climate justice and the
G20.
WHAT: Town hall discussion
WHERE: Northern United Place Auditorium, 5403 50th Ave (Franklin Ave)
WHEN: Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 7:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
WHY: While Canada welcomes the world's most powerful leaders to the
G-8 and G20 summits in June, KAIROS and Canadians welcome
Southern and Indigenous partners to share with us the real
impacts of climate change on their daily lives and to discuss
what a just solution to the climate crisis could look like.
Those who are most affected by climate change have no place at
the G20 decision-making table. This "Global Town Hall" is a
chance for Canadians to come together in a dialogue of real
substance to talk about real solutions.
Participants will have an opportunity to hear from partners and
local experts and engage in dialogue with them and each other as
they search for effective solutions to the global injustice of
climate change.
Partners participating in the tour are:
Francois Pihaatae, Ecumenical Animator on Climate Change for the Pacific Conference of Churches, Tahiti.
Fred Sangris, member of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
