Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association to Hold Media Conference: Front-line Registered Nurses Say "The Truth Hurts. Nurses Know. It's time for a moratorium on RN cuts"

TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2015 /CNW/ - The Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) will hold a media conference on October 22 at 10 am at the Queen's Park media studio to launch an ambitious new province-wide public awareness campaign.

The campaign is designed to help Ontario residents understand the impact of extensive and serious cuts to their health-care. ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN will speak about the campaign's reach and goals. She will also identify some of the negative impact on patients of RN cuts and bed closures and call for a moratorium on RN cuts.

Haslam-Stroud notes that, "Ontarians are passionate about their publicly funded and publicly delivered health-care system. Yet many are not fully aware of just how much damage to our patients' health care has been wrought by cuts due to budget constraints."

ONA is the union representing 60,000 front-line registered nurses and allied health professionals as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, industry and clinics.
