Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association Members to Join Rally to Stop Private Clinics:
100 RNs join Ontario Health Coalition, union members at Queen's Park
TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2014 /CNW/ - About 100 registered nurses – members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) – will join an Ontario Health Coalition rally to stop private clinics and save local public hospitals tomorrow.
The RNs and allied health professionals who work in all health-care sectors across the province have been in Toronto for ONA's Biennial Convention and Education Day. They will participate in the rally at Queen's Park at 12 noon tomorrow, along with other union members from across Ontario.
ONA has been vocal about the need to preserve hospital services, beds and RN care as the province has increasingly moved services out of hospital and into private clinics.
ONA is the union representing 60,000 nurse practitioners, registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
