Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association Leaders Meet to Discuss Workplace Violence, RN Cuts in London This Week
LONDON, ON, June 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA), the union representing more than 60,000 front-line registered nurses and allied health professionals as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates, will discuss issues of concern such as workplace violence and provincial RN cuts this week in London as ONA holds its June 2015 Provincial Coordinators Meeting beginning tomorrow.
The approximately 130 registered nurse leaders will gather at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on June 10 and 11 to hear updates on the work of the union. They will also be distributing leaflets over the lunch hour on Wednesday to urge London residents to attend an upcoming Ontario Health Coalition Day of Action scheduled for June 26.
Guest speakers include Natalie Mehra, Executive Director of the Ontario Health Coalition. Following the wrap-up of the meeting, some RNs will remain for a half-day education session.
ONA is the union representing 60,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care, the community, public health, clinics and industry.
