MEDIA ADVISORY - ONA First Vice-President to Visit Ottawa: Vicki McKenna to celebrate Nursing Week with Ottawa members
OTTAWA, May 7, 2017 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) First Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN will visit registered nurses and allied health professionals in Ottawa tomorrow to celebrate Nursing Week. McKenna will be available to do telephone interviews with local media.
The theme of Nursing Week 2017 is, "We are Ontario's Nurses. Nurses Know." Across Ontario, ONA's registered nurses, nurse practitioners and registered practical nurses will mark the birthday of the world's most famous nurse, Florence Nightingale and pause to celebrate the skills, education, critical thinking and knowledge they bring to patient care.
Nurses know that their education, skills, passion and dedication are vital to providing the quality care patients need and deserve. While the profession faces a number of challenges, May 8 to 14 is about celebrating the profession. Nursing Week is celebrated worldwide.
ONA is the union representing 64,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 16,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
