Media Advisory - Mount Kilimanjaro Climb Raises $1 Million for Cardinal
Ambrozic Houses of Providence Endowment Fund

TORONTO , Nov. 4 /CNW/ - The Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence will host a Kilimanjaro/Africa-themed event to launch the Hodgson family's upcoming climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb has raised $1 million for the Endowment Fund in support of the Houses of Providence, a 288-bed, long-term care home that is part of Providence Healthcare. African music, a makeshift base camp, and special presentations will help kick things off.

Chris Hodgson is Group Head of Canadian Banking with Scotiabank Group and Chair of the Providence Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors. He and members of his family plan to climb Kilimanjaro next month, and the event with residents in the 'Houses' has been planned to wish the family 'safe journey' on their trip.

Hodgson has already raised $500,000 for Providence, and Scotiabank has matched the amount.

The Hodgsons leave December 19 and, along with their guides, will set up base camp at an altitude of 5,500 feet. Over five days they will climb to almost 20,000 feet and experience temperatures of 20 below. They plan to hit the summit on December 28 .
