CHILLIWACK, BC, Oct. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Sam Mellace, a pioneer in medical marijuana, in Toronto and Vancouver will be speaking out against a Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) proposal that would force medical marijuana growers to move to an industrial park.
FVRD is considering a new bylaw on Tuesday, Oct. 8th that would require medical marijuana growers to relocate their operations from land zoned agricultural to an industrial area on the outskirts of Chilliwack.
"This proposal is a desperate attempt to thwart new Health Canada regulations that set out stringent requirements for medical marijuana providers," said Sam Mellace, the Operations Manager of New Age Medical Solutions Inc., in Vancouver and Toronto. "Forcing providers to move and retrofit their operations will only drive up costs for Canadians who benefit from medical marijuana. It makes no sense."
Mellace operates a licensed growing operation in B.C. He has been licensed by Health Canada as both a patient and grower since 2003, and has been active in lobbying for better access to medical marijuana for many years.
