TORONTO, Dec. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will once again ring in the new year in the company of the citizens of Ontario.
The Lieutenant Governor's 2013 New Year's Levee will be held on Tuesday, 1 January in the Lieutenant Governor's Suite at Queen's Park in Toronto. Members of the public are welcome to attend from noon to 2pm, and will have the opportunity to meet the Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Onley.
Ontarians will have the opportunity to view 60 in 60: An exhibition celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and to see artifacts and artwork in the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 Room. Both are part of the rotating art exhibits featured in the Lieutenant Governor's Suite and offer a unique glimpse of two seminal events in the history of our province and country.
A tradition in Canada since 1646, the New Year's Levee is a special chance for the public to meet Her Majesty's representative in Ontario, learn about the role of the Crown in Canada, and enjoy local entertainment. Refreshments will be provided. This event is wheelchair accessible.
