MONTREAL, June 16 /CNW Telbec/ - The May long weekend kicked off the unofficial start to summer and with it, boating season! Boating offers lifestyle benefits that can easily and affordably improve quality of life for Canadians who enjoy its many activities. Jump the waves, fish for the big one, just get away from it all, de-stress, get closer to nature and more importantly, closer to family, friends and loved ones. Discover Boating, the recreational boating industry's national awareness program, is hosting an event to officially kick-off the boating season by introducing newbies to the fun of boating and educating veteran boaters on new activities.

Discover Boating will bring the advice found on onto the water with a "Get Started in Boating" event. Experts will showcase boats and equipment to bring to life the fun and accessibility boating can offer Canadians nationwide.

              Learn water safety, how to choose the right boat type, fishing,

              10:00 a.m. - Introduction to Discover Boating and interactive
              11:00 a.m. - Boat leaves the marina for lunch
              12:30 p.m. - Boat returns to marina

    WHO...    Discover Boating's Yves Paquette will discuss the benefits of
              boating, especially in Canada, and how the average Canadian can
              get started.

              Once a popular water sport for the younger generation,
              wakeboarding has become a fun activity for boaters of all
              ages. Benoit Allard, camp director at Benoit Allard
              Wakeboarding School, will answer questions and during lunch on
              the water his riders will showcase the latest wakeboarding

              Luc Couture and Marc Thorpe, from Princecraft, will share their
              passion for fishing, tips/techniques, as well as their top
              fishing secrets.

              Pierre Addy, from Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, will speak
              about boating safety and how Canadians can be safe and
              conscientious boaters.

              Dominic Davignon and Jacques Hébert, sailing experts, will make
              you discover their passion and will give you tips and
              techniques to practice safe sailing.
