What: Simulation Summit featuring Dr. Amitai Ziv, Founder and
Director, MSR - the Israel Center for Medical Simulation
When: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Pacific Daylight Time)
Why: Medical simulation is leading-edge technology that allows
residents to experience scenarios and develop their assessment,
reactive and technical abilities in a safe environment.
Dr Ziv is a world renowned expert in the field of medical
simulation and has been invited to give keynote talks at
multiple medical conferences worldwide, as well as Grand Rounds
at leading medical institutions including Mayo Clinic, McGill
University, Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto, Foundation for
Medical Education in Japan and Albert Einstein Medical Center
in Sao Paolo Brazil. He is also the recipient of national and
international awards including The 2007 Charles Bronfman Award
for Humanitarian Action and The 2007 Michener Honorary Diploma
of Health Science Award for leadership and commitment to the
Applied health sciences.

What: Launch of the CanMEDS Physician Health Guide: A Practical
Handbook for Physician Health and Well-being with one of the
editors, Dr. Derek Puddester
When: 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. (PDT)
Why: A physician's health affects the quality and efficiency of
health care delivery.
- 46 per cent of Canadian physicians are in an advanced stage
of burnout, (CMA 2007)
- 77 per cent feel that they do not have enough time to get

kit to help educators, learners and physicians better
understand the broad meaning of "physician health" and to

What: Donald Wilson Award presented by Dr. Donald Wilson
When: 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. (PDT)
Why: This prestigious award will be presented by Dr. Donald Wilson
himself, a former Royal College president after whom this award
is named. He will be presenting it during the Clinician
Educator Working dinner to a program director who has
demonstrated a commitment to enhancing residency education as
evidenced by innovation and impact beyond his or her program.
