Media Advisory - Hospital Nurse to Speak About Impact of RN Cuts at Ontario
Health Coalition Hearing Today
COBOURG, ON, March 10 /CNW/ - Registered nurse and Ontario Nurses' Association Bargaining Unit President Cindy Sandercock will speak about the impact of nursing cuts on patient care today at the Ontario Health Coalition's public hearing in Cobourg.
Organized by the Ontario Health Coalition to gather meaningful input on health-care system changes, the meeting will be held at the Lion's Club in Cobourg from 3:00 to 6:30 pm. Sandercock will be joined by ONA Vice-President Anne Clark, RN and other ONA members.
The registered nurses will also join members of OPSEU at a rally at the hearing. Northumberland Hills Hospital has announced it is cutting almost 10 full-time-equivalent registered nurses and closing 26 beds and its diabetes clinic to balance the budget. The RN cuts total almost 20,000 hours a year of RN care lost to the community.
