Media Advisory - Governor General to be Guest Quizmaster at Kids' Lit Quiz Inaugural Ottawa Tournament Français
OTTAWA, Jan. 14, 2016 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will be the guest quizmaster at the final round of the Kids' Lit Quiz Inaugural Ottawa Tournament. The event will take place at Elmwood School, in Ottawa, on Monday, January 18, 2016.
"I look forward to challenging the best readers in Ottawa at the Kids' Lit Quiz. Education is so dear to my heart and seeing an event such as this one where our children's knowledge is put to the test as a means to further develop their learning skills is just terrific. I wish good luck to all competitors and may the best teams win," said His Excellency.
At 11:30 a.m., the Governor General will have the honour of asking the final 10 questions to competitors on 14 teams representing six schools in Canada's capital. Once the results are tabulated, he will personally congratulate this year's top three winning teams, as well as all participating teams for their outstanding performances. Kids' Lit Quiz Canada is holding tournaments in Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Hamilton and Toronto in 2016. Winning teams will advance to the national final being held in Toronto, on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.
About The Kids' Lit Quiz
The Kids' Lit Quiz is an annual literature quiz for students aged 10 to 13 years. Quizzes are held in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The winning team from each heat competes in a national final. National champions then compete at the Kids' Lit Quiz World Final.
