Media Advisory - Front-Line RNs to hear from Marshall Ganz Tomorrow:
Nurses in Toronto for 2014 ONA Biennial Convention
TORONTO, Nov. 19, 2014 /CNW/ - One thousand front-line registered nurses and allied health professionals attending the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) 2014 Biennial Convention will hear from Marshall Ganz tomorrow.
The ONA members, meeting at Toronto Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, will hear advice from Ganz, a lecturer in public policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and grassroots organizer.
Ganz has extensive experience in developing innovative mobilization strategies that were used successfully by the Barack Obama election team. Ganz has had groundbreaking successes in the American labour movement, serving in a variety of positions for the United Farm Workers of America and working with Cesar Chavez to organize agricultural workers.
Ganz has changed the shape of organizing. He has also had unprecedented success in increasing voter registrations in the American south. His advice will complement the convention focus on strengthening the work and solidarity of ONA, the country's largest nurses' union. The theme for Biennial is "I'm in. Stronger Together." Media may attend selected sessions during Biennial Convention. Please contact ONA for details.
ONA is the union representing 60,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
