Media Advisory - Front-line Nurses, Health-care Professionals to Attend Town Hall on Pharmacare for All
BURLINGTON, ON, March 5, 2018 /CNW/ - Registered nurses and health-care professionals will join Burlington and area residents tonight at a Town Hall meeting on "Pharmacare for All – Why Not?"
Organized by the Halton Chapter of the Council of Canadians, the evening features guest speakers Maude Barlow, Honourary Chair of the Council of Canadians, and Professor Brian Hutchison, an expert on health-care economics and policy. The two will participate in a panel discussion with a local pharmacist, physician and health benefits professional.
RNs have long advocated for a universal pharmacare system for Canadians. As front-line nurses and health-care professionals, ONA members know that far too many Canadians do not fill the prescriptions they need because of financial issues. With the federal government now studying the possibility, ONA encourages members of the public to attend the meeting, being held at the Art Gallery of Burlington on Lakeshore Road.
ONA is the union representing 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 16,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
