Celebrating 50 Years of the Flag of Canada
Hometown Music Council launches unique national program
WHITBY, ON, Feb. 5, 2015 /CNW/ - Hometown Music Council, with special guests Canadian icons Lighthouse and Kate Todd, will announce the launch of the Flag of Canada – Hometown Proud program on Thursday, February 12 at the Whitby Public Library. With funding from Canadian Heritage this national program celebrates and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Flag of Canada.

This national program incorporates teachable moments with lesson plans for all classrooms and a cross country recording tour of elementary schools joining students together on what may be the largest recording of O Canada. All of which will be shared in a one-of-a-kind digital yearbook to be enjoyed by Canadians today and for many generations to come.
Dignitaries from Canadian Heritage along with local elected officials will be in attendance for the launch event which features a special performance from Canadian legends, Lighthouse. Guests are invited to arrive early for a public performance from 9:30 to 10:00 with Country Artist Kate Todd.
