Media Advisory - Commissioner's 2008-2009 annual report on public-sector
privacy issues to be tabled

OTTAWA , Nov. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - The Privacy Commissioner of Canada's 2008-2009 Annual Report to Parliament on the Privacy Act is expected to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 .

The report will highlight the findings of in-depth audits of two major federal national security initiatives - Transport Canada's Passenger Protect Program or "no-fly list" and the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada , better known as FINTRAC.

The annual report is expected to be tabled at approximately 10 a.m. After tabling, copies will be available to the media through the Parliamentary Press Gallery and on the Privacy Commissioner's website at www.priv.gc.ca.

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Jennifer Stoddart and Assistant Privacy Commissioner Chantal Bernier will be available to answer journalists' questions about the audits and annual report. Cameras are permitted at the briefing.
