WHAT: Under the banner of Immigrant Protection Day, the Canadian
Society of Immigration Consultants will:
- Launch a national toll-free help/referral line
- Unveil a cutting edge new advertising campaign
- Provide recommendations to Government on how to address
non-accredited immigration representatives
(known as ghost agents)
- Report on the progress CSIC has made since its inception.
BACKGROUND: Canada's current legal and administrative framework for
immigration consultants fails to address ghost agents. These
agents give a bad name to legitimate immigration
consultants, preying on consumers by offering them
sub-standard services.
