CALGARY, Dec. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - This time of year, people look for ways to help those less fortunate. Citizens will donate food, money and their time, but these acts won't reduce the number of impoverished Canadians. Large-scale change needs to come from government, and with it being the holiday season, now is a good time to ask whether government is doing enough to reduce poverty.
Media are invited to a press conference where Professor Herb Emery will present a ground-breaking poverty-reduction strategy that entails offering poor Canadians (of all ages) the same support programs currently offered to seniors.
