Olympic gold medalist Carla MacLeod at Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest
WHAT: This Saturday, hundreds of girls from Calgary and surrounding
communities will gather at the Pengrowth Saddledome for the second

inspire girls to reach for their goals on and off the ice.
WHO: Olympic gold medal winner (2006) Carla MacLeod will serve as 'head
coach' and will deliver the motivational keynote address. MacLeod,
a native of Spruce Grove, Alberta, will be joined by elite varsity
women hockey players from the University of Calgary and the
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), who will
facilitate on-ice skills sessions and off-ice training for novice,
atom, peewee and bantam-level girls.
Sloane Muldoon Girardin, Scotiabank Vice-President, Alberta South
District, will introduce Carla's presentation and talk about
Scotiabank's commitment to women's hockey.
Equipment specialists from hockey megastore Pro Hockey Life will
be holding special sessions for parents to offer equipment fitting
and safety tips, and is also providing prizes for program
participants as well as the varsity athletes leading the skills
sessions.
