Media Advisory - Brazilians build awareness of affordable housing need in
Toronto
TORONTO, Sept. 2 /CNW/ -
What: Over 30,000 Brazilians will gather in a sea of green and yellow at
Yonge-Dundas Square over September 5th and 6th to celebrate the
2nd annual Brazilian Day Canada. The largest Brazilian event in
this country, the festival has partnered with Habitat for Humanity
Toronto to raise enough from event proceeds to sponsor one Habitat
Toronto home. "The issue of affordable housing is at a global
crisis level, and thousands of Brazilians in Toronto are showing
their support to change that in a tangible and local way," says
Habitat for Humanity Toronto's CEO Neil Hetherington. "Through
this two-day celebration, funds will be raised and a family's hope
of moving into a new affordable home will be realized."
Brazilian Day Canada will culminate with a free concert featuring
Brazilian superstar Ivete Sangalo and a host of local Brazilian
and Canadian musicians. Toronto is the only Canadian stop as this
party makes its way around the globe to Luanda, London, Tokyo, New
