Media Advisory - Annual HMCS Halifax's Run Nova Scotia starts June 7th in
Yarmouth and North Sydney

HALIFAX, June 4 /CNW/ - You are invited to witness two groups of sailors from HMCS Halifax who are raising funds for The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada - Nova Scotia Chapter by running across Nova Scotia. This seventh run to raise awareness and funds for Children's Wish will see two teams run the length of the province by simultaneously running Yarmouth-Halifax and Sydney-Halifax legs to meet pledge obligations. The RUN will conclude with an official finish and cheque presentation ceremony at the Fleet Club Atlantic on Friday June 11. Since the Run first began, more than $72,000 has been raised for the Foundation.

The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada

Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to over 15,000 children and their families.

This year, the Foundation expects to grant 1,000 new wishes. The Foundation has never refused a wish to an eligible child, and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family.
