Media Advisory - Aboriginal-Rights Activist Cindy Blackstock to be Awarded
Atkinson Economic Justice Fellowship

TORONTO , Nov. 19 /CNW/ - Cindy Blackstock will be awarded the Atkinson Foundation's Economic Justice Fellowship at an event in Toronto on November 23rd . The Award will provide up to $100,000 per year for 3 years to support Ms. Blackstock 's efforts to advance the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada , particularly First Nations children involved with child welfare.

The announcement will take place on the occasion of the launch of a new photography exhibition entitled "Caring Across Boundaries." Curated by Ms. Blackstock , the exhibition documents the hopes and dreams of three First Nations communities across Canada .

An authority on Aboriginal issues, Ms. Blackstock is Executive Director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada and a member of the Gitksan Nation.
