Mr. Ian Bunbury
of Avenue Machinery Corp., in Abbotsford, British Columbia was announced as winner of the 2009 Equipment Dealer of the Year, during the
Canada
West Equipment Dealers Association 69th Annual General Meeting and Convention in
Calgary
, Alberta.
Avenue Machinery Corp. is a 4-Store agricultural equipment dealer selling Kubota, Massey Ferguson and Fendt agriculture and construction as well as lawn & garden, golf and commercial equipment. Avenue Machinery Corp. opened its first dealership in Mission, BC in 1947, just after the Second World War and the year before the great flood of 1948. In the early fifties the company was moved to Abbotsford.
Ian and partners, Bob Brandsma, Bernie Brans,
Harry Harris
, and
Gordon Orr
purchased the dealership in 1982. All of the partners have participated in various church and public organizations including 4H Clubs, Youth Groups, Mennonite Central Committee fundraisers, World Vision, police and firefighters support groups. Ian has been a member of Kubota's National Dealer Council since its inception in late 2003 and has been very instrumental in helping Kubota guide the ship for over six years.
Ian has been a past member of the
Canada
West Board of Directors, convention committees as well as manufacturer's dealer focus groups, and the University of the Fraser Valley Board of Governors. His community service, humanitarian and volunteer activities are numerous.
The nominees for the
Bill Lipsey
Merit Award for Dealer of the Year must be Association members and their qualifications include: business involvement and success; community service and humanitarian involvement; service club and Association involvement and support.
