Helping Homeless Women With Mental Health Challenges Rebuild Their Lives
TORONTO, Aug. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - With the incidence, detection and reporting of mental health issues steadily increasing, the need for support services that help in the healing, recovery and reintegration has never been greater. On Saturday August 16, 2014, St. Clare Inn, a Canadian model in transitional housing for homeless women with mental health challenges, will hold its 5th Annual Linda's Walk.
St. Clare Inn opened its doors in 2007 as a modest two-bedroom duplex in East York. In direct response to increased need, the space has expanded to a five-bedroom home. As a result, St. Clare Inn has supported more than 50 homeless women with mental health challenges over the past seven years.
Members of the Don Mills community – young and old – walk 5 km in memory of Linda, a homeless woman whose story touched the hearts of many and was the catalyst for the creation of St. Clare Inn. Participants will walk through the streets and the connected park pathways in the Don Mills neighborhood to raise funds in support of St. Clare Inn.
Show your support by walking with us and by bringing a friend to the 5th Annual Linda's Walk.
