MDT Unveils TMR Magnetic Switch Sensors for Smart Flow Meters
TMR Technology Boosts New Magnetic Switch Sensors with Extended Battery Life and Reliable High-Speed Measurement in Smart Flow Meters and High-End Industrial Applications
SAN JOSE, Calif. and ZHANGJIAGANG, Jiangsu, China, Jan. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - MultiDimension Technology Co., Ltd. (MDT) announced the world's first TMR magnetic switch sensors for use in battery-powered smart flow meters, including water flow meters, heat flow meters and gas flow meters.
Empowered by MultiDimension's TMR technology (Tunneling Magnetoresistance), the new magnetic switch sensors are superior choices for high-performance industrial applications, including proximity switches, speed sensors, and position sensors. TMR technology is proven as a high-performance, power-efficient, cost-effective and dependable technology for the magnetic disk-drive industry. MDT is the first volume supplier that offers all the advantages of TMR technology in multiple product series, including TMR magnetic switch sensors, TMR magnetic field sensors, and TMR magnetic angle sensors.
"MDT's new TMR magnetic switch sensors offer fast measurement, extended battery life, and uninterrupted, reliable operation to smart flow meters," said Dr. Song Xue, Chairman and CEO of MultiDimension Technology. "We are passionate and devoted about introducing the benefits of TMR technology to the magnetic sensor market, and delivering products and solutions to promote the success of our customers."
The MMS103H and MMS105H magnetic switch sensors feature high frequency response up to 100kHz, and their supply current can be as low as 5 microamperes. Unlike similar products that must employ power cycling or sleeping modes to reduce power, MDT's magnetic switch sensors exhibit low power consumption during continuous operation.
Key Features
- Bipolar TMR magnetic switch sensors with CMOS digital latching output
- Operate and release points at +/-30 Gauss (MMS103H) and +/-50 Gauss (MMS105H)
- High-speed magnetic field measurement at 100kHz frequency response
- Low power consumption at 5 microamperes under 3V supply
- Continuous operation for reliable measurement
- Excellent temperature stability from -40 to 125 degrees Celsius
- TMR magnetic sensors and signal-processing ASICs integrated within a small SOT-23 or TO-92 package
Dr. Xue noted that MDT's TMR technology combines the key benefits of existing magnetic sensor technologies such as AMR (Anisotropic Magnetoresistance), GMR (Giant Magnetoresistance), Hall Effect, and Reed switch, while overcoming their critical limitations. As a result, MDT's TMR magnetic sensors provide a unique combination of high frequency response, low power consumption, high sensitivity, wide air-gap, endurance, and durability.
