MDC PARTNERS ACQUIRES PARTNERSHIP INTEREST IN RENOWNED CREATIVE AGENCY
72ANDSUNNY
Agency Uniquely Blends Strategic Rigor, Creative Excellence and Digital Expertise for Top Global Clients
NEW YORK, Dec. 15 /CNW/ - MDC Partners (www.mdc-partners.com) announced today that they have acquired a majority interest in high-profile brand agency 72andSunny (www.72andsunny.com). Based in Los Angeles and Amsterdam, the full service agency conceives and executes fully integrated campaigns across all media for top global brands. In addition to capabilities in TV, print, out-of-home and interactive, they manage brands' social networks/communities and PR. The agency's blue chip client roster includes Hewlett-Packard (HP), CKE Restaurants (Carl's Jr / Hardee's), RIM (BlackBerry), Nike (Action Sports), Discovery Channel, K-Swiss, 2K Sports (Take-Two Interactive), PacSun, Air New Zealand, and Bugaboo.
Operating with complete integration, 72andSunny offers clients a seamless combination of strategic rigor, creative excellence and world-class production capabilities in all media. 72andSunny's deep experience in interactive development and social media activation is complemented by a public relations offering, leveraging all client-owned and earned media channels to maximum effect. Their full service in-house production staff produces their digital assets and experiences, which include development, execution, and maintenance of websites, micro sites, ecommerce sites, social applications, mobile applications and communities. Unique to an agency of their creative caliber, 72andSunny adheres to a strict culture of metrics and results, ensuring that clients can precisely track their return on marketing investment.
The agency's three founders have rich global experience garnered, in part, during their tenures at Wieden+Kennedy/Portland and Wieden+Kennedy/Amsterdam. While at W+K/Amsterdam, Creative Directors John Boiler and Glenn Cole individually oversaw global brand initiatives for Nike, Coca-Cola, Heineken, Miller Beer, Siemens Mobile, as well as the European launches of Vodafone and the Audi A2. The third founder, famed Design Director Robert Nakata, is known for his expertise in developing identities for global brands, and notably for his influence on the visual aesthetic of the Nike brand, which has earned him worldwide recognition as part of a small group of designers who have challenged the traditional rift between advertising and design. Two years ago the group was joined by Managing Director and Chief Strategy Officer, Matt Jarvis, a former telecom President. Matt was most recently Executive Planning Director at Deutsch/LA, where he guided global clients including Saturn, Playstation, DirecTV, and United Healthcare.
Continuing their incredible momentum, this year the agency won duties for Nike's Action Sports division, launched a new brand strategy and tagline, "Let's Do Amazing," for HP, created a ground-breaking campaign for K-Swiss featuring HBO star Kenny Powers, built robust social communities as Digital AOR for Carl's Jr and Hardee's, and continued to exceed aggressive sales forecasts for 2K Sports. The resulting growth has seen the company fill its roster of world-class creative, strategic, and production talent to a 150-person strong juggernaut. In addition, a recent surge of new business wins round out an impressive 4th quarter.
"We started 72andSunny with a set of ideas that we believed were the most modern and relevant to doing great work far into the future," said John Boiler, Co-founder and CEO of 72andSunny. "The partnership with MDC Partners allows us to test and expand on those ideas more quickly which will ultimately benefit our culture, our people, and our clients.
"MDC Partners is all about talent, and the talent at 72andSunny is as good as we have ever seen," said Miles Nadal, Chairman and CEO, MDC Partners. "They offer their clients a unique combination of stellar creative firepower, the ability to make their brands matter in culture, along with the holistic marketing sensibility to seize the multitude of connection points and maximize their earned and unpaid media. They have deep global experience and understanding, and their clients recognize the amazing combination of digital expertise, and creative prowess with the component of measurable results. We believe they are the agency of both today and tomorrow, and we are thrilled to welcome John, Glenn, Robert, Matt and their incredible team to the MDC Partners network. Another tremendous example of MDC Partners' ability to truly be 'The Place Where Great Talent Lives".
